Spicy Apple Sauce Cookies
Spicy Food Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg, beaten
2 cups flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cloves dash of nutmeg
1 cup apple sauce
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Spicy Food Preparation
Cream butter and sugar. Blend in egg and molasses. Sift together dry ingredients and add to egg mixture alternately with apple sauce. Fold in nuts.
Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheets and bake in 350 F oven for 10-12 minutes.

Spicy Food Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup honey
1 egg, beaten
2 3/4 cups flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/2 cup sour milk
1/4 cup grated coconut
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
Spicy Food Preparation
Cream sugar and butter until fluffy. Beat in honey and egg. In large bowl sift dry ingredients together and blend gradually into first mixture alternately with sour milk.
Stir in coconut, raisins and nuts. grease a cookie sheet and spread batter thinly (1/4 inch thickness) on sheet.
Bake in 350 F oven 20 minutes.
When cool, cut into bars.

Spicy Food Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup oil
1 egg
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup toasted wheat germ
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 salt. salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup EACH chopped pitted dates or raisins, and chopped walnuts
lemon glaze (recipe follows)
1 tsp. grated lemon rind.
Spicy Food Preparation
Lemon glaze
Mix 1 cup powdered suigar and 4 tsp. lemon juice or enought to frosting of spreading consistency. Beat with spoon until smooth.
Diamonds
With spoon beat together sugar, oil and egg until blended.
In separate bowl, mix together flour, wheat germ, baking soda, spices and salt.
Add to creamed mixture with the buttermilk. Stir until well mixed. Fold in dates and nuts. Turn into greased and lightly floured 9-inch square pan.
Bake at 350 F for 35 to 40 min or until tester inserted near center comes out clean.
While warm, spread with lemon glaze. Sprinkle with lemon rind. When cool, cut into 16 diamonds.
